Surprise It's a BOY!!

So I had my 16 week checkup on Wednesday and Dr Erickson was measuring the baby, and making sure everything was looking good. He told me heart rate was 150 which was low I thought cause it had always been 170 but he assured me that was normal and the baby was fine. He moved on down to my lower belly cause I have been having a lot of pressure there and he said he is the babies legs and I saw something foreign in between the legs and I just blurted out Oh my God (The Dr knows we really wanted a boy cause Tony had offered to pay him to make this a boy at my first appointment) He smiled and said looks like a boy to me. I couldn't believe it I was in shock but trying not to get to excited I asked him how sure he said 75 percent. 75 percent are we looking at the same picture I clearly see a penis, he said you are only 16 weeks but that is what I'm seeing. By now I'm super excited I know I can't keep this from Tony but can't tell him 75 percent we are having a boy. So Dr suggested I go see Dr Higashijima out in town as they do the 3d ultrasounds, so we set up an appointment for the afternoon. I went and saw Dr Higashijima who is the cutest little Japanese man who must be in his 70's if not 80's, he was so short I think him and Autum were the same size. Anyway we sat down and talked about my pregnancy and my pregnancy with Kayleigh and he started checking the baby and he smiled and said 3 girls this 100 PERCENT BOY, wow this is really happening I thought, Tony is getting his son. The Dr smiled and said everything looked great and I was made to have babies I built like Japanese woman he said smiling very skinny all baby. Which I had been told he would tell me I was fat cause supposedly he says that to all the Americans but not me. He gave me some pictures and a cute little book and a video tape of the ultrasound. He said you leave in May and I said yes and he said he was sorry he'd like to deliver, I told him thank you very much and bowed and we were out the door eagerly waiting for Tony to call. Tony knows he is getting his son and is as shocked as I am but we are both very excited about this new adventure. The ultrasound is a butt shot with 2 legs up in the air and you can clearly see our little man.

Huis Ten Bosch

On Saturday we went to Huis and Kayleigh was so tired she ended up falling asleep in Tony's chair about 630. A wedding had just taken place and they were taking the bride and groom around Huis.

Jennifer and I, she is due in May me in September

Amber's Jump

Amber's turn she went up high but she told the guy not so high in Japanese, funny when I ask her how to say something in Japanese she doesn't know. She had a great time and did a flip, Kayleigh enjoyed watching Amber.

Kayleigh jumping

Saturday we went over to Huis Ten Bosch with Jennifer and Kyle and they had some new activites there, this jumping thing was one of them. Kayleigh loved this and she went up pretty high. She wants to go back with her Daddy :)

What Tony will be doing.

This is the Sendai Airport, Tony is on the USS Essex

USS Essex (LHD 2), USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) and USS Germantown (LSD 42) with the embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit entered the Sea of Japan. In the coming days they will take position off the coast of Sakata on the western coast of Honshu to begin conducting disaster response operations. The west coast affords greater access to undamaged ports and roads, fewer navigational hazards, and prevailing winds that are upwind of the Fukushima power plant. Once on station, one of the ARG/MEU’s primary missions will be to assist in the reopening of Sendai airport for operation.

A massive 9.0-magnitude quake hit northeast Japan on Friday, causing dozens of deaths, more than 80 fires, and a 10-meter (33-ft) tsunami along parts of the country's coastline. Homes were swept away and damage is extensive. Here are some photos I've come across the past few days. We are fine here and are sending items up north that they need the girls are being really great about helping me sort through things. Please keep the Japanese people in your prayers as they have a long recovery ahead of them.

Samurai Helmet making

Starting my masterpiece I choose to do the spike look
This guy was so funny he wanted our helmets to be perfect but Sallie and I could care less, Sallies top looked centered to me but not him he kept wanting her to move it. Needless to say he took multiple smoke breaks while we were there.

My finished masterpiece, the helmets are drying now and then they will cook them i guess and we can get them on May 3rd.

Girls Day

It's common for families of girls in Japan to have a set of hina dolls wearing ancient kimono which is displayed at homes beginning sometime after Risshun (the first day of spring according to the lunar calendar) through March 3rd. The Empress doll (ohina-sama) and the Emperor doll (odairi-sama) are set on the top shelf. Then, sannin-kanjo dolls (three court women), gonin bayashi dolls (five court musicians), and more dolls. Hina-arare (rice crackers) and hishi-mochi (diamond shaped rice cakes) are placed by the hina doll display. Different types of hina dolls have been created around Japan. In some regions, hina dolls are hung from the ceiling called tsurushi-bina.

Many families of girls in Japan celebrate hina matsuri with special food, such as chirashi-zushi (colorful sushi), clam soup, sakura mochi (sweet rice cakes), and more. Although Japanese Girl's Festival isn't a national holiday, it's an important tradition for wishing girls happiness and good health.

Here is Amber and Kayleigh dressed up for Girls Day.
