Kayleigh's Day with Friends

Today Kayleigh met up with her friends at Chili's Amber got to tag along due to her missing the bus how convenient. :) Here is Amber with Jo, my camera didn't take good pictures for some reason today must of been the crappy weather. Kayleigh and Grace

Kayleigh has her Valentine's Day Party at daycare tomorrow so I will post pictures of that as well, and I'm going to be going to another Shrine tomorrow so look for those pictures as well.

Kayleigh's Haircut

Kayleigh got her 1st real haircut this morning, we have only trimmed her hair before. Her hair was getting pretty long but was taking me about 30 minutes to get it brushed cause she would always cry and run away. So below is the before picture. This is the after, looks really good and still long plus she loved every minute of it.

1st thing she said when her haircut was over was " I wanna show my Daddy, so as soon as we got home we emailed him the pictures.

We went to get pizza after her haircut she was very excited.

Yurigatakedake Park

We also found this great park ,Yurigatakedake Park for Kayleigh to play at for a while kept her busy she was running everywhere. The sign below we found trying to find the beach ( didn't find it ) but we know that Sakito is the next city so we will have a new adventure there. Kayleigh playing on the exercise equipment

Oshima Shipyard this was behind the park.

Oshima Ohashi Park/Oshima Bridge

Today we went to see the Oshima Bridge it is 1,095 meters long . It is a cable-stayed bridge that was opened in November of 1999. They also have the Oshima Ohashi Park on the other side of the bridge. It cost 300 yen each way so was a total of 600 yen which is a little more than $7.00 to drive over the bridge. Our Day with Noriko

Today we were host to a Japanese Woman she was a couple years older than me. It was nice being host to an adult. We showed her our home and she kept saying how big it was, I told her compared to our home back in the states it was smaller. I showed her pictures of my family and she informed me my husband was very handsome and wanted to know where she could find one! I took it as a compliment until she kept saying it to me and even the girls ( i was glad tony wasn't here for this one lol) We showed her the commissary and she was very shocked at how different it was. We also took part in the Mardi Gras festival here on base. Noriko making her 1st cake she did a really good job for 1st time.

Setsubun

February 3rd, which is one day before Risshun (the first day of spring according to the lunar calendar), is called Setsubun in Japan. It's not a national holiday, but mame maki (bean throwing) ceremonies are performed on Setsubun. Traditionally, people throw roasted soy beans at home, shouting "oni wa so to" (get out demons) and "fu ku wa uchi" (come in happiness.) These beans are called fuku mame (fortune beans.) It is believed that people can be healthy and happy if they pick up and eat fuku mame the number equal to their ages
