Habu Sake

Habu sake (which is actually awamori alcohol mixed with herbs, honey, and a big snake) is a liquor that came to Japan from China, where the snake is known for its medicinal properties, Habu Sake is good for back problems and arthritis becau...se it has 19 amino acids beneficial to humans, and also the snake poison dissolved in the alcohol gives to this liquor some special properties.

To make habu sake or Snake wine you need a habu which is a snake specie found in Japan that must be put on ice until it is half-asleep, then you must drain of all it's blood and sew it up.

Afterwards the snake will wake up and finish its life in an attacking position that a lot of habu manufacturers look for when they subsequently throw the habu in a nice ethanol bath to preserve it.

The habus are left to soak for a month and then transferred to a 59% alcohol mix for 40 days before being placed in a 35% awamori.

In Japan the beverage is awamori and when it has a yummy poisonous pit viper in it it’s called habushu (literally, poisonous East Asian pit viper liquor).

Huis with Jane and her girls

Yesterday we headed out for Huis using the free zone gate that is open to Hario residents, very nice to have and not a long walk at all. Anyways we went with Jane and her 3 girls and we had a great time. Kayleigh is coming more and more social everyday I actually saw her reach for Grace's hand yesterday while we were walking. Below the girls are running around getting wet, really enjoyed this section of the park.

Jane trying out Dr Fish for the first time. Amber loved it and definitely wants to go back.

They had so much fun in here.

The girls found treasure inside a box down by the river. They are trying to open it.

Had a great time with the Geigers though just walking around and taking in the Japanese humor. Our photo was taken before we went into the Ghost wedding.
