Tango-no-Sekku Boys Festival

May 5th brings the Boys Festival in Japan, it is to remind everyone of the importance of children especially boys. A carp is flown for each son in the family, the big carps are for the eldest and on down with each carp getting smaller for each younger son. The Japanese consider the carp the most spirited fish, so full of energy and power that it can fight its way up swift-running streams. On our way to the beach there was this display of carp and I took a quick picture. There is going to be a festival at Pea-Cock Park and they are preparing for the Boy's Festival
