Luau in Sasebo, Japan

The girls and I went to Nimitz Park yesterday, MWR was hosting a Luau for Sasebo and we thought it would be fun to check it out. A Luau is a Hawaiian Feast and the word Luau comes from the young leaves of the Taro plant were combined with chicken, baked in coconut milk and called luau. MWR also offered a traditional Hawaiian meal, which the girls and I liked. My favorite was the meatballs, Amber loved the rice and Autum liked the punch lol. We had a great night. The menu is below of what we got to eat last night. Anyone thirsty? I wish Tony had been with me so I could of taken part in a nice drink with my meal :(

Getting so pig on my plate, last night was the first time the girls had seen a dead pig on a table.

MarinePal Yokubo, Karatsu Japan

We went on a blue boat called Keela, here we were taken out into the middle of the ocean where we could see all the fish from the ocean through the windows down below the boat, It was a really neat experience and the girls loved it. This was below the boat we are looking at all the fish, no sharks :)

Kayleigh loves taking pictures she even has a small digital one, guess she is wanting to use my big camera now lol.

Nanatsugama Caves

Amber and Kayleigh touching the wall inside the cave.
The Nanatsugama Caves, this is a national natural monument the cliffs were formed by the rough waves from the Genkai Sea. There are 7 caves in all made by the erosion of the Genkai Sea The frontage is 3m and the depth is 110m. The boat went right into the calve were we could actually touch the walls inside pretty neat. The top of the cave.

Nagoya Castle Ruins

Nagoya Castle was built as a base for an attack on Korea and China by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the 16th century. Very little of the castle is left except for some foundations and some walls. At one time this was the 2nd largest castle in Japan. Legend says the castle's main donjon was completed in only 5 months, it was built over an area of 170,000 square meters. Most of the work was shared by the generals under Shogun. There were 6 entrances to the castle. I really wish it would of all been intact I'm sure it was quite an amazing castle. Amber, hard to believe she just turned 14.

Kayleigh excited about making it to the top.

Beautiful view.

Amber reading the sign she can read some Hiragana, and she was pointing to what she knew :)
