Mikan Picking

This morning we headed out for Mikan Picking. Kayleigh was very excited to go. For 1200 yen we got to fill up 2 bags and pick our own off the trees. On our way up to the Mikan farm.
Kayleigh loved cutting her own Mikans off the trees

Mikan is a variety of mandarin orange that is grown and quite popular in Japan, but originated in China. It's very popular in the winter and is used as part of a traditional decoration (kagami mochi), topping two balls of mochi (rice cake).

This is the man who helped us get to the Mikan farm and showed us what to do, he was very sweet as all Japanese are that we have come across.
